HEALTH UPDATE!
Hello hello everyone!
Not long ago, I posted about my medical journey to hell. It’s time I give you all an update!
First off, I want to thank every single one of you from the bottom and top of my heart for your prayers and good thoughts. I have so much love for my family, friends, and book community who have rallied around me.
GOOD NEWS – my blood work came back normal! It means that I have a non-functioning pituitary tumor. They are 99% benign so there’s no worry about cancer. Also, no surgery is needed at this time. I will have to get routine MRI’s and periodic blood tests to check the size and function every 6 months. Of course, if it grows and starts to cause more problems, something will have to be done.
However, it has caused my adrenal insufficiency which is something I have to live with the for the rest of my life. It’s a rare disease that affects 1 in 100,000 people. Steroids will be my lifelong companion. It is literally no joke when I say that without them someone with adrenal insufficiency could die. To be honest, the adrenal insufficiency scares me more than a small tumor in my head. It’s going to be a learning process, especially figuring out my limits and when I need to up my medication. I haven’t gotten to that point yet, but I will.
Luckily, I’ve met some amazing people on this long road to recovery who are going through the same things I am and I’m so thankful I have them to talk to. It’s nice and yet also sad that I have these people to lean on. I wouldn’t wish these problems on anyone. Nevertheless, I am grateful to have so many friends who have been there for me. It’s times like this when you realize how lucky you truly are. <3
